health and sickness

Our house was attacked by a very vicious virus this last week. First Eric started nasty coughing and small temps. The temps turned out to be another tooth coming in and I see more that will be in in the next week. This kid teethes fast. Then Josh got the nasty and shared it with Daddy who is still suffering from it. Then I finally fell victim to it. Last week church was canceled due to 18 inches of snow over night so I was really ready to fill my spiritual cup but after getting to church we realized that Josh had a nasty fever. So after Sacrament meeting I took both boys home in total disappointment and frustration feeling like I was not getting the spiritual break I was in desperate need for. We also did not get to the temple because everyone was sick so I was really low on my levels. I was trying to remember that the reason we are here on this earth is not to have it easy all the time but to be tried and tested. To feel the pains and pleasures of life that also includes getting sick. My boys are very strong little guys they rarely ever get sick but when they are I feel the stress that every mother feels when her most precious are not feeling well. Thanks to my mother I know how to check an ear to see if it is infected. The answer is yes Josh has a nasty infection and thanks to children's Tylenol and modern medicine it will be cleared up in a matter of days. Tomorrow the Dr. will give us the prescription needed to get rid of the ear infection and get our happy boy back
In the picture you can see he is being a really good sport but you can also see he dose not feel good.

BOYS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Eric and Josh were cuddling on the couch together today and I wanted to try and capture the love so someday I can have it there to remind them through the tough times. I also got a great picture of Eric showing off his three sharp teeth. He sure has a great smile.

Eight Months

Eric is eight months old now, it kinda took me by surprise. I really wish time would slow down a bit. With Josh I couldn't wait till he was bigger and I could sleep through the night. Now looking back I wish I could have savored the time better. I really tried to savor the time with Eric but time seems to be moving so much faster that the more I try to savor the faster time slips by.

Things that Eric is doing now,
He can roll from back to front and front to back. This is a really big thing for him because he struggled to get the strength to turn his heavy little tooshy. Now he can do it with ease.
He can get up on his hands and knees.
He can get back into a sitting position from his hands and knees.
He can move around the room moving backwards on his tummy.
He is now feeding himself little rice crackers and chunks of fruit.
He has three very sharp little teeth on his top gum.

Snow!!!!!!!

This weather is want of another word absolutely amazing, and to think just a couple of days ago we had our spring clothes pulled out because we were in the upper fifties to lower sixties and starting to love the change of weather then later last night it started to come down and did not stop. It is still coming down. So last Wednesday Jason's Mom and Dad, Aunt Ruth and Grandma Park came to visit us we played out side in t-shirts and had a lot of fun. Now just a few days later we have this. Can spring please come I want May to be here today so my wonderful husband can be finished with school and we can move into a new chapter of our lives. Life without late night classes. Sounds really good to me. Now on a Sunday afternoon with Church canceled I'm trying to figure out what to do I really miss going to church. Why can't we still have church even though there is two feet of snow on the ground well I look forward to church next week.

Eric has teeth

Eric has been teething for months now and looking at his sore little mouth we found the new little tooth. The very first tooth to come in is his top tooth off to the right of his front teeth which are also cutting through. No sign of bottom teeth yet. The only bad thing about teeth is I'm getting tired of being chewed on. The picture isn't very good but rest a sure the teeth are painfully there.

Josh

Josh was really a good sport when his baby brother invaded his world. He loved him almost instantly. With minor grumpiness and the question when is his Mommy coming to get him? After answering that question for him with the answer being I'm his Mommy and he's staying. Josh fell in love with his brother and has been very kind and loving since. He plays the usual practical jokes on his brother like stamping his entire face with animal stamps but Eric loves him for it. Now yesterday I watched my friends new baby girl. Eric was jealous but Josh was in love. He wanted to hold her, he wanted to feed her he would have held her the whole time if I would have let him. While he was feeding her he looked up at me and asked "Mommy can I have a baby like this one tomorrow?" My answer was he needed to wait a couple of years but I would try just for him. When Jason came home from work with Flowers (he's such a good husband)he dropped everything to come hold the baby. It sure makes a difference when a baby female is in the house all my men drop everything just to be with her minus Eric who just wanted his Mommy back but in a couple of years he will probably want a baby sister as well.

Friends play day

My friend Melanie signed up to clean the temple today so I got to have her kids at my house. I love it when my friends send their kids to my house because it gives my kids friends to play with. It's something that needs to happen more often. I guess that means I need to make a effort to do play days. My boys just love it when they have friends over.
P.S Eric learned how to crawl backwards today! Super cute he really wants to crawl.

Eric and Josh Typical day

Eric has been experimenting with foods. First it was bananas then apple slices now green beans he really loves to eat. He is the happiest baby, always smiling and laughing. Good thing he has a brother that loves to smile and laugh right along with him. I know the picture of the two boys is hard to see but it was still really cute.

MOTHERS

Grandma Kjar sent this to me and I thought I would share it with you Moms out there, and by the way I have always known my mom knew a lot more than I will ever know That's why I always talk to her.

Real Mothers don't eat quiche;
They don't have time to make it.

Real Mothers know that their kitchen utensils
Are probably in the sandbox.

Real Mothers often have sticky floors,
Filthy ovens and happy kids.

Real Mothers know that dried play dough
Doesn't come out of carpets.

Real Mothers don't want to know what
The vacuum just sucked up...

Real Mothers sometimes ask 'Why me?'
And get their answer when a little
Voice says, 'Because I love you best.'

Real Mothers know that a child's growth
Is not measured by height or years or grade....
It is marked by the progression of Mommy to Mom to Mother.....

The Images of Mother

4 YEARS OF AGE - My Mommy can do anything!

8 YEARS OF AGE - My Mom knows a lot! A whole lot!

12 YEARS OF AGE - My Mother doesn't know everything!

14 YEARS OF AGE - My Mother? She wouldn't have a clue.
.
16 YEARS OF AGE - Mother? She's so five minutes ago.

18 YEARS OF AGE - That old woman? She's way out of date!

25 YEARS OF AGE - Well, she might know a little bit about it!

35 YEARS OF AGE - Before we decide, let's get Mom's opinion.

45 YEARS OF AGE - Wonder what Mom would have thought about it?

65 YEARS OF AGE - Wish I could talk it over with Mom.

The beauty of a woman is not in the clothes she wears, the figure she carries, or the way she combs her hair.

The beauty of a woman must be seen from in her eyes,
Because that is the doorway to her heart,
The place where love resides.
The beauty of a woman is not in a facial mole,
But true beauty in a woman is reflected in her soul.
It is the caring that she lovingly gives, the passion that she
Shows, and the beauty of a woman with passing years only grows!

Eric munching on apple slices

Eric got a little jealous of Josh eating apples so I gave him a slice of one to munch on he absolutely loved it, by the way he also had two jars of baby food and emptied the left over jars that were in the fridge. I guess that equals to three jars of food. I put my foot down on more than that. At least I know he's healthy.

BOYS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I love that I have two boys in a row but sometimes I wonder what I got myself into. Eric is still really young and but he loves his brother and will be happy with what ever Josh dose to him. Yesterdays incident left me and the boys laughing and when Daddy came home from school it had him laughing as well. For Christmas Josh received a bag full of animal stamps I tend to keep them up high because I love the colors of my walls and do not want more color added but yesterday Josh climbed up on the high chair and retrieved them when I was out of the kitchen. when I came back into the kitchen to get Eric I found him and his brother's head and hands stamped with elephants and zebras and Josh holding my compact make up mirror admiring his work and showing Eric. At least the boys were happy. I was able to get most of the stamps off of Eric's face but not Josh's he went to school with his face still covered in animals.

Joshua's birthday Party

Josh turned four on Sunday so Saturday we celebrated with a Harry Potter Hogwarts castle birthday party. We kept it to just family and had a lot of fun. We took him to wild island for golfing, go carting, fun house and created a impressive cake adorned with lots of presents. I think he had a lot of fun and I sure had fun with my parents as we watched Jason and Josh climb through the craziness of the fun house. Happy fourth birthday Josh we love you!

From Baby to Boy

This being the week that Josh turns four I guess I've been super sentimental so please bear with me as I get my feelings out. I find that my blog is therapeutic when I'm feeling sad or happy or feeling pleased with my children I find it helps to get those feelings out on paper or in this case on computer. A few months ago in the Ensign there was an article about blogging and how we need to be careful what we wright because it is always going to be there. I have tried to do that and I hope that someday my boys will just laugh about how their Mommy loved them so much she wanted to share their accomplishments with friends and family. I've been reading back on my blog to when Josh started Primary I have teared up many times since then I'm not sure why I can't stop the emotional roller coaster. I think it is because Josh is no longer my baby he is a boy and a wonderful one at that he is kind to his friends and his brother. I think all parents go through this where they wake up one day and realize that their babies are no longer babies, because Josh has always been smaller than his peers and very cuddly I was able to keep him my baby a little longer. I think the first time that I had this melancholy about my child getting older was almost a year ago when I took him in for testing and discovered that he had a speech delay and I could no longer help him on my own. I wish I could say that I changed my ways right then and there about cherishing every moment. I read a friends blog that was about how she was starting to really miss the opportunity to have babies and how her children were getting older and she wanted to remind those of us who have just gotten started with our families to cherish every moment. I pray that I can cherish my family because they were a special gift to me and I am so grateful to friends and family who remind me on a daily basis to cherish and love them even when the annoy me. The dishes don't always need to be perfectly done the floors do not need to be scrubbed daily and beds do not always need to be made. Playing with our kids is far more important. I hope I have not gone off on a soap opera I just want each day to be special because every day that I have is one more day I can be with my family.

Seven Months

Eric is Seven Months old now. What is my baby doing these days lets see, He loves to sit and play with toys while I do other things. I have to say this is probably my most favorite phase just before they get mobile. He is TEETHING!!!!!! not fun I had to break down and do the Oragel thing because my baby is so miserable. He is so patient especially when his big brother tries to carry him like a rag doll which by the way doesn't happen because my baby is about ten pounds lighter than my four year old. He is wearing twelve month clothes and only getting bigger every day and the list goes on and on. We just love our gentle giant. He is so sweat and soon when those teeth pop in he'll be so much happier as well.

Saw this and just had to post it

saw on the internet that Haiti is without a government. To help out, I'm donating one Obama, one Pelosi, one Reid, one Frank, one Coakley, and two Clintons! They may keep them permanently! I'd give them a Constitution, but I can't find mine right now! ~ Status borrowed from a friend. I saw this and had to make it mine too!

Cookie Time

I sure am grateful to have a wonderful husband. It's been really rough the last couple of days , Eric is teething enough said. So yesterday after church Jason tried to take care of both boys so I could catch up on some much needed sleep. The only problem with that idea was, me. I fell asleep with noise all around me and woke up to silence well when its just me and the boys that usually means trouble so fifteen minutes after I fell asleep I woke up. So Jason then tried to make cookies for everyone. That worked, Josh helped and Eric sat and watched and I finally got some nice quiet time. I took some pictures of the fun the boys all had together.I am so grateful for the boys I have they take really good care of me. By the way I finally found the baby Tylenol so Eric is a little happier.

Hike

We went on a hike and my over ambitious husband decided to take us on a three mile hike in the mud and snow and thought Josh could walk the whole way. Well we ended up carrying both boys because Josh got tired half way through but it was fun and we were together as a family. It was a very beautiful environment and Josh was able to see a Lama and Horses, Reno really has some beautiful places in it.

Dr. Visit

I have to say Jason and I are very grateful that our boys have been healthy so far this winter season. Josh had gone through three ear infections by the time he was Eric's age and Eric has not had one. Today Eric had his six month check up and this is the results, it is looking like Eric will have to have that surgery but the hospital and surgeons have a program where once a year they donate to the families who do not qualify for Medicaid but can't afford a pricey surgery so if we can get on the list Eric's surgery will be free. As for his measurements he weighed 18lbs so a little lighter than I thought but that puts him in the 50th percentile so still very healthy. He moved up from the 70th percentile last time to the 75th on his height so he will be a tall little man someday. His head measurements crack me up it is in the 90th percentile for his age. Now the Dr. told us that he can see we feed our baby well now what dose that say for our other boy who was never even on the chart for his age and still is not? oh well that little boys 4 year check up is in February so I think I want Jason to handle that appointment I'm not sure I could handle the tears from Josh I also don't think I could hold him down while the nurse gave him his shots. I swear the things Mommy's do out of the good for their children's health. Our family has been very healthy lately and very blessed. I hope you are all finding joy through these sometimes difficult times as well.
by the way the picture of Josh and Jason the reason Josh is not wearing a shirt is I had just given him a hair cut and he wanted to sit by his daddy and I just couldn't resist taking a picture of this very precious moment.

Primary

Josh went to Primary for the first time yesterday. It has turned out to be a blessing that I'm a primary teacher because I was able to watch my child as he took a big step. He was very well behaved. He sat in his chair folding his arms and listened to the talks, prayer and scripture. Over the last almost four years I have discovered the essence of Joshua Kjar. It is just go with what ever life throws at me. That is truly how my son has done things in his life. He is a great teacher to his Mother. I admit I could not help but tear up as I watched my baby grow up before my eyes. So call me a sentimental Mommy I'm very pleased with the way my son entered the Primary.

Christmas 2009

Christmas was a wonderful experience this year. Josh has gotten to a age that is so much fun to watch him eagerly anticipate Santa's coming. We spent this year with Jason's family and had so much fun as we watched Eric and Dilyn celebrate their first Christmas together. a special thank you to family and friends who gave us beautiful gifts and hope you enjoyed your celebration of Christ's birth as much as we did. We love all of you and pray for a happy 2010 year.
